Library by Appointment is available at the Idaho Springs Public Library and John Tomay Memorial Library. With a scheduled appointment, patrons may access limited services at both branches. Follow the steps below to schedule your appointment.

Step One

Call your preferred branch to reserve an appointment to use the library in-person. One patron or family unit is in the branch at a time. Appointment times are 20 minutes in length. If you need additional time, please let us know.

Step Two

The entrances for Library by Appointment are:

Idaho Springs Public Library – ADA Entrance off of 14th Avenue
John Tomay Memorial Library – 6th Street Entrance

Before you arrive at your appointment, there are a few important guidelines and details to review.

  • Most importantly, please respect the safety of our employees, patrons, and visitors.
  • Do not enter buildings if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have recently been in contact with someone who has a confirmed or suspected case.
  • Patrons are required to submit a health survey, including a temperature check, and sign a waiver of liability.
  • Patrons are required to wear masks while inside the libraries. All face coverings must adhere to Clear Creek Health Department and Colorado State Health guidelines.
  • Patrons are expected to follow social distance standards six feet of physical distancing between themselves and others within the libraries.
  • Patrons are expected to follow all signage and staff requests when visiting the libraries.
  • Barriers have been implemented at all circulation desks to encourage social distancing and provide employee protection.
  • Food and drinks are not allowed within the libraries.
  • Please keep your children with you and stay with your family.
  • Public restrooms are not available.

The health and safety of our staff and our patrons are our top priority!

Step Three

Enjoy the library! While browsing, please drop any items that you’ve touched, but don’t want to check out, in the designated bin for cleaning.

Limited computers will be available at both locations for you to use.

  • Computers will be laptops, and each screen will be covered with an antimicrobial cover, and each keyboard will be covered with a disposable, antimicrobial barrier cover
  • Screens will be disinfected following each use
  • Keyboard covers will be thrown away, disinfected, and then a new cover will be applied
  • Mouse devices and mouse pads will be disinfected following each use
Step Four

At the end of your designated appointment time, please check out your items and exit through the same door you entered. Also, make another appointment to visit us again soon!

 


Frequently Asked Questions

What if I need to use the library on short notice or on a day it is closed?

We will try our best to accommodate all appointments even with short notice or on non-appointment days. Please call our branch to talk to the librarian and see if we can make you an instant appointment or a more convenient appointment time.

How many items can I check out?

Each patron can check out ten items at a time – including up to four DVDs.

How often can I make an appointment?

In order to accommodate as many patrons as we can, we are asking that you keep your appointments to no more than twice per week.

Is library by appointment safe?

Patron and staff safety is our priority, so we are taking every precaution we can to ensure a safe experience.

Can I return materials?

Yes! You can return items in any of our book drop locations. Please note that this is the only way we can safely accept materials at this time, so we ask that you do not bring items to return inside the library.

I returned my item – why didn’t it get checked in?

As a precaution, we quarantine returned items for three days before they are processed by library staff. Your items will be checked in three days after you return them. Don’t worry – you won’t get any fines! We have eliminated fines on all materials until further notice.

Will I get to see library staff?

Staff members are looking forward to seeing you. Please know that we will keep our distance for everyone’s safety, and we look forward to closer interactions when it is safe.

Are you taking book donations?

Book donations are being accepted at the Idaho Springs Public Library Monday-Thursday, 11 am – 4 pm. For large donations, please email kate@cccld.org or call 303-567-2020.
